CIMB Group Holdings Berhad (CIMB Group) continues its commitment towards helping those in need during the Holy month of Ramadan through its Harapan Ramadan programme.

The annual community outreach initiative, jointly led by CIMB Islamic and CIMB Foundation, has mobilised its largest Ramadan contribution by facilitating a distribution of over RM1.8 million benefiting more than 34,000 individuals.

In line with CIMB Malaysia’s 100th anniversary, the Harapan Ramadan programme will take place over 100 locations in all states across Malaysia, impacting communities from the asnaf and B40 groups, heads of families, single parents, people with disabilities, refugees, senior citizens and other underserved communities.

This year’s programme is organised in collaboration with six non-governmental organisations (NGO) and aims to distribute essential items, such as rice, cooking oil, canned food and other staples to ease the financial burdens this fasting month and for the upcoming festivities.

In addition, cash allowances are also provided to selected orphanages for their necessities and for the children to shop for their ‘Raya’ preparations.

Ahmad Shahriman Mohd Shariff, Chief Executive Officer of CIMB Islamic and CIMB Foundation said, “We are pleased to celebrate the joy of our Harapan Ramadan programme as we expand our outreach to 100 locations across Malaysia, in conjunction with our 100th anniversary this year.

"It is certainly the most meaningful one to date as we enabled a total of 650 CIMB employees to volunteer their time to be part of the programme across the country, embodying the Bank’s brand purpose of “Moving Forward with You”.”

“We remain committed to championing initiatives that generate positive and meaningful impact to the communities we serve, and we look forward to working with our partners to share more blessings with our beneficiaries and alleviate their burdens this Holy month,” he added.

Since its inception in 2022, the Harapan Ramadan programme has successfully mobilised over RM4.4 million in funds to 83,000 beneficiaries from the underserved communities.

Through CIMB Islamic, the Group has spearheaded various initiatives for underserved communities, whilst supporting the long-term development of underprivileged groups via programmes, such as Program Keusahawanan Taylor’s – CIMB Islamic, iTekad CIMB Islamic Rider Entrepreneur Programme, Melon Manis Terengganu Graduate Agropreneur Programme and CIMB MicroBizReady.

These initiatives aim to empower aspiring B40 entrepreneurs to improve their livelihoods and reach their full potential by providing them with mentorship and training to enrich their entrepreneurship skills.

Meanwhile, CIMB Foundation serves as the Group’s corporate social responsibility and philanthropic arm, focusing on four impact areas that encompass education; health and community wellbeing; economic empowerment as well as climate and environment.

Collectively, these pillars contribute towards sustainable impact in the communities around us, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). - KitaReporters/Media Release
