Larian Hari Sukan Negara Kuala Lumpur! Freshly branded as Sharp Hari Sukan Negara Kuala Lumpur 2023!

Larian Hari Sukan Negara Kuala Lumpur (HSNKL) is making its inaugural comeback to Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur. 

Avid runners will be competing alongside fellow Malaysians as well as international running enthusiasts in the spirit of fitness and fun set to take place on 8 October 2023 in the heart of KL. 

Sharp as the main sponsor has worked together with the event organiser, Pure Events in gaining full support from Jabatan Belia dan Sukan Wilayah Kuala Lumpur, DBKL – Cultural Arts Tourism and Sports (CATS), Persatuan Olahraga Wilayah KL, PDRM and MKN in bringing this event to live for fellow Malaysians. 

The run, in line with the mission of Hari Sukan Negara, is aimed at further igniting and strengthening the desire to keep fit and be healthy among Malaysians, and to create a sports-loving and sports-conscious nation. 

The last Larian Hari Sukan Negara in Kuala Lumpur was in 2016. This year, the event has been freshly branded as Sharp Hari Sukan Negara Kuala Lumpur (Sharp HSNKL) 2023. 

The HSNKL event at this year’s Hari Sukan Negara celebration is a landmark initiative by renowned Consumer Electronics brand; Sharp Electronics (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (SEM). It was also developed in commemoration of Sharp’s 111th Anniversary this year. 

The upcoming HSNKL is the first large-scale public outdoor event sponsored by Sharp, kicking off the company’s effort in helping people to adopt active and healthy lifestyles. 

Furthermore, Sharp also hopes to continue cooperating with Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) to jointly advocate, promote and cultivate a healthy lifestyle by bringing this running event to various local areas across Malaysia. 

Sharp HSNKL offers four recognisable flag-off points; the 21km Half Marathon, 10km Run, and 5km and 3km Fun Runs which aim to bring together runners from all walks of life. 

It is envisioned that through this exciting event, the spirit of running will be inculcated in the young ones, the elite will be challenged, and others will be inspired to beat their personal bests or make their maiden attempt at running competitively. 

This will be an event for everyone and anyone, from seasoned runners to casual runners as well as the underprivileged and OKU. 

This event aims to promote peace, harmony and fun, uniting the people of Malaysia and international runners in their common passion for a healthier lifestyle. 

According to Ting Yang Chung, Managing Director of Sharp Electronics Malaysia, “Registration was open four weeks ago and we currently have close to 6,000 participants. 

"Registrations are still coming in as we approach the closing date which is on 25 September 2023.” 

The Sharp HSNKL 5km and 3km fun runs are designed for the whole family and are suitable for beginners, children and persons with disabilities, or those who may be wheelchair-bound.

Flag-off will start at 7:00am. The 21km Half Marathon will pass through several well-known landmarks and runners will enjoy scenic views of the KL Skyline as they make their way along Bukit Tunku, the Botanical Gardens, the National Mosque, and more. 

The 10km race, which is expected to attract the largest participation, also features several notable landmarks along its route. All three races will end at Dataran Merdeka. 

The Prizes being offered for the various categories at Sharp HSNKL (Open, Veteran and Malaysian Fastest categories for both men and women) are large-up to RM50,000 worth of Prizes are up for grabs. 

Several companies have come on board as official partners and sponsors for Sharp HSNKL 2023. 

Sharp Electronics Malaysia is the Main Title Sponsor, Yamaha is offering a Bike and ESTEEL is offering Water Tanks as the Lucky Draw Prizes. 

Sharp will be having their activation booth and will also be offering Lucky Draw items. 

The Official Apparel for Sharp HSNKL is PureFIIT. All registered participants can expect cool running T-shirts courtesy of PureFIIT. 

Goodie Bags are sponsored by Decathlon, all registered participants are eligible for a Special Cash Voucher by Decathlon. The Goodie Bag items are worth RM150 per bag. 

Sharp HSNKL has also signed up 100Plus as the Official Beverage for the run and Swiss-Inn as the Official Hotel. 

There will be much to entertain members of the public at Dataran Merdeka in conjunction with Sharp Hari Sukan Negara 2023. There will be a health, fitness and sports bazaar, food trucks and much more. 

Registration for Sharp HSNKL ends on 25 September 2023.
